Is the following partial sentence grammatically correct, especially the wording of the first five words: “His laughing and I’m not showed I acquired—somehow—a habit of mind, a baseline, by which to evaluate . . .” or is this th only correct way: “His laughing and my not laughing showed . . .”?
Sorry for the delay: I just saw this comment. I cannot see any way in which the first version is grammatically correct. I could be wrong. More importantly, I don’t think it is comprehensible—grammatical or not. I could only figure out its meaning based on the second version. Hope that helps.
